The 7th Grader's New "Hands On" Activity

The 7th Grade once again exhibits extraordinary talent in Art Drawing, taught by Mrs Mack. The students have been learning how to illustrate hands, a difficult subject, to make up Tahanto’s core values and beliefs in sign language. This art project was completed using contour drawing, a technique that involves looking closely at the object and drawing the outline of what you see. These hands were sketched into the student’s notebooks, where they then proceeded to cut the hands out and paste them onto long sheets of paper. Together, they spell out the words “determination and education”. After much hard work, their accomplishment now proudly hangs on the walls of Mrs Mack's classroom. The artistic pupils were aiming to communicate an idea using American Sign Language (a complex system that involves moving the hands and making facial expressions), and they did just that!
